PDP constitutes disciplinary committee in Anambra

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Anambra chapter has set-up a seven-man disciplinary committee to check indiscipline and foster reconciliation thereby strengthening the party in the state.

The committee which was inaugurated in Awka on Friday had Chief Odili Ojukwu as chairman and Mr Obinna Ogugua as secretary.

The members are Mrs Uju Edochie, Deputy Chairman, Mr Chris Maduagwu, Mr Nnamdi Nwangwu, ⁠Chief Casmir Ilechukwu and Chief Okechukwu Ekemezie.

Mr Chidi Chidebe, chairman of PDP in Anambra while inaugurating the committee, charged them with the responsibility of upholding discipline and ensuring adherence to the constitution, rules and regulations of the PDP.

Chidebe said that the committee is to also investigate allegations of misconduct, anti-party activities, or actions capable of bringing the party into disrepute as well as recommend appropriate measures or sanctions in accordance with the party’s constitution.

He said that based on its findings, the committee could make recommendations including sanctions such as reprimand, suspension or expulsion to the SWC for approval.

He charged members of to discharge their duty with utmost integrity, impartiality, confidentiality and dedication to the ideals of PDP.

He said that the duration of their appointment shall be determined by the State Executive Committee (SEC).

“The SEC of the PDP in Anambra in compliance with Chapter 10, Article 57 (1)(2) of the constitution of our great party, has approved the constitution Anambra PDP disciplinary committee.

“We congratulate the committee and look forward to your contributions toward strengthening discipline, unity and internal democracy in the PDP in Anambra,” he said.(NAN)
