The Edo State Security Corps has rescued the Onogie of Udo-Eguare community, His Royal Highness (HRH) Friday Ehizojie, bringing an end to the agony and apprehension that had enveloped the community for over four days.
The royal father was kidnapped on Monday February 3, 2025 alongside two others.
Commander of the Corps, Mr Friday Ibadin, a retired Commissioner of Police, who commended the Governor Monday Okpebholo administration for the support and conductive environment created for security agencies to operate in the State said he and his men will not falter in the discharge of their mandate.
The successful operation comes in the wake of rumours that Mr Ibadin had been removed as head of the Corps.
He has consequently summoned a meeting of all regional commanders in Edo State to work out strategies aimed at stemming the tide of kidnapping, armed robbery and other forms of insecurity in Edo State.
Ibadin had at several fora in the State assured Edo people that under his watch criminals would find it difficult to reside in the state as they will all be smoked out.
The successes recorded so far by the corps is an indication of the capability and professionalism displayed by men of the Corps who have continued to approach every mission with courage and determination.
Ibadan had recently led men of the Corps to comb the thick bushes of Edo Central following several complaints from residents on the increasing number of kidnapping and armed robbery in the Senatorial District.
The Corps after the successful operation which led to the rescue of the Onogie handed him over to the Nigerian police Force Edo State command for adequate debriefing in order to be able to apprehend his captors who are at large.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in Edo state, Betty Enekpen Isokpan Otimenyin, has appreciated the Government of Edo State and attributed this success to the logistic support provided by the Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo to all security agencies.
The Command equally appreciated the vigilance teams, hunters and other well-meaning residents of the State for their support so far.
