The Commissioner for Youth and Sports in Abia, Nwaobialor Ananaba, says the state government under the administration of Gov. Alex Otti is ever committed to sports development.
Ananaba disclosed this in Aba during a boxing championship that took place inside the Aba Sports Club.
The event which was promoted by Ikeuj boxing promotion and sponsored by the state government was the first of its kind in the state.
The commissioner said the government was deliberately working on developing more youths through sports and would stop at noting to achieve it’s target.
Also, the President Nigeria Boxing Board of Control (NBB of C), Dr Rafiu Oladipo thanked the promoter of the championship for his steadfastness in helping young boys and girls discover their talents in boxing.
The President urged the state government to assist the promoter in discovering, harnessing and producing great boxers in the state and beyond.
A young boxer, Chinaza Okoronkwo, son of the promoter who won the national lightweight challenge by unanimous decision, said he won the fight but not satisfied with his low performance.
Also, Zoe Okoronkwo who won the national featherweight challenge by Technical Knockout against Nwambeke Ndubisi, said his target was to rule the country and the World in Boxing.
The two young boxers from the Okoronkwo family donated boxing training equipments to the state government to encourage discovered talents.
The promoter, who is the father of the boxing champions donated a boxing ring to the state government. (NAN)
