ABU felicitates TY Danjuma at 87

Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, has congratulated retired Lt.-Gen. Theophilus Danjuma on his 87th birthday, describing his life of service as a beacon of progress for Nigeria.

Malam Auwalu Umar, ABU’s Director of Public Affairs Directorate, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday in Zaria.

He said the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Adamu Ahmed, conveyed the university’s felicitation in a letter addressed to the elder statesman.

According to him, Danjuma was a former Chief of Army Staff and a one-time Minister of Defence under the Obasanjo administration.

He added that Danjuma has remained an exceptional figure whose contributions to national development continue to inspire generations.

Ahmed was quoted as saying that Danjuma’s remarkable journey, marked by courage, patriotism and steadfast commitment to national unity, stood as a model of leadership.

“Through your distinguished military career, principled leadership and impactful philanthropy, you have touched lives and transformed communities in immeasurable ways.

“Your dedication to justice, human development and education places you among the rare individuals whose legacy transcends generations,” he said.

The vice-chancellor stated that as an esteemed recipient of ABU’s Honorary Award, the university was proud to celebrate Danjuma and the ideals he represents.

He added that the values the retired General embodies include integrity, excellence, resilience and service to humanity, aligning with the core principles that ABU strives to uphold.

“To our students, you represent purposeful leadership; to our staff, you exemplify national service; and to the university management, you remain a cherished part of our institutional history.

“Many stand taller because your life has paved the way.

“Many dream because your example proves that greatness is achieved through courage and compassion,” Ahmed said.

The vice-chancellor prayed for God’s continued blessings upon Danjuma, wishing him good health, inner peace and renewed strength, as well as many more years of fulfilment. (NAN)
