Kano Govt. approves N8.2bn for education, water projects

The Kano State Government has approved over ₦8.2 billion for the execution of some key projects in the education and water supply sectors across the state.

This is contained in a statement issued by Gov. Abba Yusuf’s spokesperson Sunusi Bature issued  in Kano on Monday .

Bature said the projects, approved by the 33rd Executive Council Meeting chaired by Yusuf, aimed to boost infrastructure, enhance learning standards, and increase access to quality education.

He explained that the N4.9billion projects in the education sector  included the renovation of Government Technical College, Ungogo, settlement of debts owed to boarding schools’ feeding suppliers, and the production of instructional materials.

Other projects were the completion and furnishing of the e-library at Kano State College of Education and Preliminary Studies, as well as the  accreditation exercises at the Kano State Polytechnic.

The government also approved funds for the procurement of office furniture and fittings at the North-West University, Kano.

Meanwhile,the ₦3.3billion projects in the water supply and energy projects included the construction of a water treatment plant in Rano Local Government Area and the payment for electricity and fuel supplies for the State Water Board.

Bature added that the government had also approved funds for settling outstanding electricity bills and supply of diesel and petrol for water treatment plants.

He said “The move aims to improve access to clean water, enhance energy efficiency, and promote better living standards for the people of Kano state.” (NAN)
