The Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon Paul Ohonbamu has reiterated the commitment of the Governor Monday Okpebholo led administration to prioritizing the welfare of Edo residents including those living in the rural areas.
Hon. Ohonbamu made this statement while receiving the Management of the Edo State Rural Access Road Agency (EDSRARA), who where on a courtesy visit to the Ministry in Benin City.
The Commissioner who was represented by the Functioning Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Rose Imonikhe, explained that the State Governor is keen on developing the State, particularly through road infrastructure aimed at providing accessible roads to both the urban and rural areas.
”I want to appreciate Mr. Governor for establishing this Agency (EDSRARA). He has proved, times without number, that he is interested in the welfare of the people.
”One of the arms of the Project SHINE is the ‘Natural Resources and Food Sufficiency’. The task your Agency is doing will enhance food sufficiency, because, when the access roads to the farms are motorable, the cost of food will be reduced and every person in the State will be able to afford good meals”. He said.
The Commissioner urged the Agency to look into the state of roads in Owan East LGA, particularly Erah Road, to ease the difficulty of the people of that locality and it’s environs.
Hon. Ohonbamu further pledged the Ministry’s support to collaborating with the Agency in promoting the activities of the State Government adding that in no distant time many rural communities will fill the impact of the Agency.
Earlier, the Executive Chairman of EDSRARA, Hon. Ayewoh Ambrose Oyakhilome, while thanking the Commissioner for the Ministry’s efforts in enlightening the residents of State, noted that the Agency was established by the current administration to provide accessible road infrastructure to rural communities and ease transportation which in turn will boost agricultural activities, improve security in rural areas and the State in general.
He added that the visit was to familiarize the Agency with the Ministry towards fostering areas of collaboration and partnership in the dissemination of the Agency’s activities to the residents of the State.
The Executive Chairman was accompanied on the courtesy visit by other Management Staff of the Agency.
