Edo State Government responds to hospital’s needs

The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Cyril Adams Oshiomhole, has received a delegation from Edo State University Teaching Hospital, Auchi. The visit was aimed at familiarising with the Commissioner and to appreciate his efforts in the Health Sector, with the intent to seeking more support for their Teaching Hospital in Auchi, Edo State.
‎The Commissioner, while appreciating the team and their work, assured them of the State Government’s commitment to health sector and the people of Edo State.
‎Dr. Oshiomhole promised to take their requests to the Governor and stressed that the present administration remains focused on ensuring quality and affordable healthcare for all.
‎The team, led by the Acting Chief Medical Director, Dr. Tijani Oseni, praised the Commissioner for his swift response to recent health challenges, including the outbreaks of diphtheria and dengue fever in the State.
‎Dr. Oseni noted that the Edo State University Teaching Hospital is the only state-owned teaching hospital in the state and the only tertiary health facility in Edo North. He explained that the hospital plays a key role in providing medical services to people in the region and nearby areas. He also highlighted their pressing needs in areas such as hospital beds, oxygen cylinders, basic infrastructure and funding to help them deliver better services.
‎Following the meeting and in line with the Commissioner’s directive, the Director of Public Health, Dr. Stephenson Ojiefoh, led the hospital team to the State’s medical stores. There, the team received various hospital items, including oxygen cylinders, beds, shoe covers, hair nets, gloves, gowns, surgical face masks and other essential medical supplies.
