Edo State Migration Agency Strengthens Collaboration to Protect Vulnerable Groups

The Director General of the Edo State Migration Agency (EDMA), Hon. Chief Lucky Agazuma, has reiterated the agency’s commitment to partnering with organizations dedicated to the welfare of vulnerable groups in Edo State. Speaking during a meeting with the Network Against Child Trafficking, Abuse and Labor (NACTAL), Hon. Agazuma praised ongoing efforts to support vulnerable children and pledged EDMA’s full cooperation to ensure greater success in these initiatives.

Hon. Agazuma highlighted the transformation of EDMA from a task force to a fully recognized agency in 2024, emphasizing the state government’s dedication to supporting orphanages, shelters, and rehabilitation programs. He noted that empowering vulnerable individuals with relevant skills remains a top priority, enabling them to build sustainable futures.

The meeting underscored the shared goal of lifting vulnerable members of society from hardship to hope. The Executive Director of NACTAL, Nosakhare Erhumwuse, outlined the organization’s role in sheltering and caring for both male and female vulnerable persons, excluding children under five. She further emphasized the importance of collaboration between various agencies and groups working towards a common objective.

Mrs. Erhumwuse appealed for continued government support and highlighted ongoing partnerships with other organizations dedicated to providing shelter and care to vulnerable populations. She stressed the necessity of a united front involving EDMA, NACTAL, and other stakeholders to maximize impact and reach.

Under the leadership of Governor Monday Okpebholo, Edo State is intensifying efforts to improve social welfare programs, creating pathways for vulnerable individuals to acquire skills and access opportunities that can change their lives.

This collaborative approach marks a significant step forward in Edo State’s commitment to safeguarding and empowering its most at-risk citizens.
