I’m writLettering to bring to your attention the crippling economic burden facing ordinary Nigerians due to skyrocketing electricity tariffs and airtime/data costs. This isn’t just an economic issue; it’s a humanitarian crisis unfolding before our eyes.
With most Nigerians living below the poverty line, the current costs are unsustainable. A single-room tenant paying ₦5,000 monthly for electricity, regardless of usage, is unaffordable for millions. Similarly, ₦100 and ₦200 airtime/data bundles are now practically useless, hindering communication and digital access.
The telecom and power sectors seem unregulated, prioritizing profits over people. As elected representatives, I urge you to act. I request that you:
1. Investigate and review electricity tariffs to ensure fair pricing.
2. Summon telecom operators to demand transparent billing and fair data/airtime pricing.
3. Strengthen regulatory bodies to prioritize citizens’ interests.
Your intervention can bring relief to millions. The people’s voice must be heard and acted upon.
